A group of 7 M/S 7th and 8th graders competed in the first ever  Alabama Youth Math Club tournament!  The president of the club is one of our very own, 11th grader Albert Chen. It was so amazing to support Albert and all the Alabama mathletes as they competed in 3 different rounds of competition.

Open for 6th to 8th graders, the tournament included a written test of 25 questions curated by a talented group of Alabama high schoolers, with awards given out to the Top 5 individuals in each grade.

Overall Placing:

Sagar Yellamraju placed 1st in the Algebra 1 individual round. This helped the Algebra 1 team made up of Sagar, Emmeline Moore, Samuel Shen, and Lillian Bahena achieve 2nd place!

Maddox Jones placed 4th overall in Pre-Algebra, and Maxfield Griner competed solo in a mystery round. The mystery round was designed for any level meaning even sponsors could compete! Everyone competed in pairs except for Max and he placed 2nd overall!!

So proud of all for participating! Special shoutout to Darshith Paturi who is always willing to join the team despite not being on math team!
