Creative Writing Collaboration Project

ASFA Creative Writing students are exploring what it means to be artists through a unique collaboration with the Dance Department and Sloss Metal Arts.

Guided by instructor Mazerick Betko, ASFA Creative Writing Non-Fiction students have been responding to their experiences with the Dance Department, creating projects ranging from poetry and essays to textiles, jewelry, and artist statements—while also engaging in Birmingham’s historic cast iron process. Students have interviewed ASFA dancers, faculty, and outside community members connected to the themes of the ASFA: Gathering showcase.
