Central Alabama Youth Orchestra
The Central Alabama Youth Orchestra meets from 3 PM - 5 PM most Sundays in the Recital Hall at ASFA. We present one or two concerts per semester in the Birmingham Community. ASFA Music Department Chair and internationally acclaimed conductor Alexander Fokkens leads CAYO, with local music educators assisting with rehearsals as well.
It is open to all orchestra instruments from Intermediate upwards. Violins, violas, and cellos need to be at least at a Book 3 Suzuki level. If your student is a beginner or interested in learning a string instrument, be sure to check out Alabama School of Fine Arts' First Note Strings Program!
