About Us

About Us

The Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) of the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) is a volunteer organization committed to strengthening and supporting the entire ASFA community. Through the involvement of parents, students, faculty, staff, and other members of our school community, the PTSO works to enhance the student experience, support our school, and foster a strong sense of community.

The PTSO supports ASFA by:

  • Bringing the ASFA community together by providing a welcoming forum where students, families, faculty, and staff can connect, collaborate, and promote the overall well-being of our school community.
  • Supporting areas of the school that may not have a dedicated support group by providing financial assistance for programs, activities, and needs that benefit ASFA students and staff.
  • Enhancing student life through funding and volunteer support for events, activities, and programs throughout the school year.
  • Strengthening our campus by coordinating volunteers and supporting campus improvement projects that enhance the ASFA experience.
  • Celebrating and appreciating our faculty and staff through hospitality events and special activities that recognize their dedication and provide opportunities for connection and fellowship.

At its heart, the ASFA PTSO is about people coming together to support the students, celebrate our faculty and staff, and make ASFA an even stronger community.

Membership

Membership is open to all ASFA students, parents, guardians, faculty, and staff! PTSO membership is just $35 per family, and your contribution helps us create memorable experiences and provide valuable support throughout the school year. Membership funds help make student events and activities possible, including school dances, assisting student clubs with their events, school-wide snack days, and so much more. We also use membership funds to show our appreciation for ASFA’s incredible faculty and staff through special events such as the Holiday Breakfast, Teacher Appreciation Week, Stock the Lounge, and a whole lot more. Funding

The ASFA PTSO is funded primarily through membership dues ~ https://checkout.square.site/buy/TARJFUB34PAILYV5BIN6VAHI, profits from the sale of ASFA merchandise ~ https://alabama-school-of-fine-arts.square.site/s/shop, and income from such programs as Publix Partners. In order to avoid competing with the specialty parent support groups’ fundraising events, the ASFA PTSO refrains from any significant fundraising outside of these programs.

 

Mission

The ASFA PTSO strives to strengthen and support the Alabama School of Fine Arts community by providing resources, advocacy, and volunteer support where they are needed most. We focus our efforts on areas that do not have a dedicated support group, helping enhance the educational experience, well-being, and daily life of ASFA students and the broader school community.

Our support includes areas such as core academics, health and wellness, technology improvements, and student and dorm life. Through collaboration, service, and community involvement, the PTSO works to help ensure that all areas of the ASFA experience have the support they need to thrive.

 

General Membership Meetings

The PTSO general meetings are open to ALL parents and guardians of ASFA students. Meeting information is sent via email in the parent newsletter and posted to our social media.
